The first Black Water bath house officially opened for business leading the town into an economic boom. The Alden Recreation Department provides a year-round recreation program for youth, adults and senior citizens to enjoy.

The town of Alden offers an excellent education experience for those with families looking to move to the area. The Alden Central School District is home to one high school for grades 9-12, one middle school for grades 6-8, an intermediate school for 3-5 graders, and one primary school for students in K-2 grade.
