Sour Spring Grove is a shoreline neighborhood on the southeast side of Grand Island, along East River Road near the South Bridge and Beaver Island State Park. Around 1900 it was a summer resort on the ferry circuit from Buffalo; the grove gave way to cottages and then to year-round homes after the bridges opened in 1935. It is one of the closest riverfront neighborhoods to Buffalo: the South Grand Island Bridge and the I-190 are minutes away, and the 952-acre Beaver Island State Park, with its beach, marina, golf course and the River Lea museum, is close by to the south. River-side lots look across the east branch at the Town of Tonawanda shoreline. Homes are in the Grand Island Central School District.
